Piccies have been released to show what the new East Stand Development will look like when it's all done. You can see it here.
It will be a shame to see the mish-mash of stands go, it is a wonderful reminder of a time when football wasn't really a business. Before it's closure in 2004, the wooden part was the oldest stand still in use in the football league having been erected in 1922.
Still, times change and things move on, and the modernisation of the fourth side of the ground should leave us with a fairly intimidating ground and bring the club firmly into the 21st century. And at least the ground will still have some sort of character with it's four different stands rather than the horrid identi-kit grounds that can now be found in some parts of the country. Oh and we're still at Vicarage Road in the heart of Watford, so it's all good IMHO.
In other news (well, a rumour going around, is that), Liverpool and Newcastle are sniffing around young 'keeper Scott Loach. Hands off! says Yellow Fever, he's not even played a first team game for us yet!

An Artist's Impression

Yes, we should be very pleased it's investment in Vicarage Road, and we should be based there for a long time to come.
I would like to see the East Stand with a little more character, not just matching yellow and red seats. It's nice that the roof matches the Rous, but I remember earlier designs with a gable in the middle of the East Stand.
Something that makes me wonder, will the new stand be build level, or on a slope like our pitch. The Rous has a stupid high wall and missing seats in the front north corner, can we one day relay the pitch level and fix this?...
I'm pretty sure the stand will be built level, so we'll have the same wall situation as in the lower rous. Apparently the seats below the wall are not sold and are simply for asthetic purposes.
All adds to the character.
Question is, what will it be called? I suppose it might be sponsored, but it also might be named after a Watford legend.
If it's named after a legend it has to be either Graham Taylor or Luther Blisset. Not sure which, it's all before my time.
One way to add character to the new stand, bring back the old electronic scoreboard! A little retro atmosphere.
Ah, yes, I'd love to see those weird Mr Men characters bounce up and down everytime we score again.
I don't think it should be the GT stand, as much as I worship the ground that God walks on, I feel that no manager standing underneath it could ever match the great mans achievements. It would be a little unfair. Just look what has happening at Forest since the opening of the Brian Clough stand.
